The Academic Success Center (ASC) is looking forward to helping you better achieve your academic goals through the Peer Tutoring Program. For over 30 years, our tutoring program has been focused on providing the best supplemental instruction to Lander University students.

Where are we located?
You can find us in Genesis Hall, across from Chipley Hall and the Science building.

How much does Tutoring cost?
$0.00 ~ It’s FREE!

Are there any limits to number of appointments?

No, you can sign up for as many appointments as you need and as often as you need.  If you would like a repeating appointment contact the tutoring coordinator.

 

What subjects are typically covered through the Peer Tutoring Program?
We offer free tutoring in many courses offered at Lander.  Students tend to use our services for general education courses such as; mathematics, sciences (i.e. biology, chemistry, CIS), behavioral sciences, political economy, and history; however, we are known to have many upper level courses within your major.

Do you have special hours?

Tutoring is offered Monday – Thursday from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and on Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Our tutors’ hours are uploaded online.  If you need special accommodations (i.e. Athletes), please contact the tutoring coordinator.

 

How do I make a tutoring appointment?
Visit our scheduling system at
www.lander.mywconline.com. If it is your first time making an appointment, make sure to register for an account using your Lander email and Lander ID number.

What if I do not see a subject listed for tutoring?

If you are in need of a tutor for a specific subject that is not currently offered through tutoring, complete a tutor request listed on the mylander page or contact the ASC for assistance.

What do I need to bring?
Come prepared with your Lander ID, class notes, textbooks, and questions you may have.  Make sure to be on time!

How do I become a tutor?

Peer Tutors must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be recommended by a Lander Faculty member in the department for which the student will tutor.

  2. Be a currently enrolled Lander University Student.

  3. Have an overall Lander GPA of a 3.00 or better.

  4. Have a grade of an A in the course in which you will tutor.

  5. Be able to explain clearly and to convey information in an articulate and organized manner.

  6. Be extremely dependable and punctual.

All applicants must complete a Peer Tutor Application and return it to the Tutoring Coordinator. An appointment for an interview must also be made.
